Dieting is the nastiest word in the world of, well, dieting. People will stop at nothing to "not" have to eat food they assume will cramp their current dietary (pardon the pun) lifestyle. Of course, most of the individuals who abhor the thought of losing their favorite foods to a horrific diet are usually people who have never tried to seriously lose weight before. If one could only embrace a new beginning of a better lifestyle...

Whatever.

Okay, so you want to lose weight without dieting? You will most certainly have to exercise, maybe a lot depending how bad your current eating habits are. Only you can know the truth about what you eat. That said, below are some necessary steps to take if you want to lose weight without dieting.

Step #1 - Join a gym. No wiggle room, here. Normally I would say you could workout on your own, but if you don't plan on changing your eating, you must at least get your butt into a fitness facility to do some work 5 days a week.

Step #2 - Spend an hour in the gym 5 days a week. Many new, weight loss participants go to the gym and burn out quickly by doing too much too fast. That's not your game. Your goal is to get in the gym and move around for at least 1 hour, but pace yourself because it's all about time. I suggest 30 minutes of cardio activity followed by 30 minutes of resistance training.

You can begin with less time, and ease into that amount of work over 3-4 weeks. But you most certainly need to work yourself into spending that much time in the gym if you want to lose weight without dieting.

Step #3 - Drink more water. I've said this before and I'll say it again. You cannot lose maximum weight without enough water in your body "at all times." Losing weight is a dehydration process. For your body to maximize the effort you give, and reward you with less body weight, it needs to be given enough water to do its job.

Step #4 - Think long-term, instead of short-term. If you're hunting for a way to lose weight without dieting, then I'm going to assume you also want to lose weight fast. It's a great thought, but losing weight (like everything in life) usually takes longer than you'd like. If you put too much pressure on yourself to lose weight in, say, 8 weeks and don't reach your goals, you could set yourself up for a big fall, mentally.

People like to put deadlines on things. When the deadline doesn't come through as planned it can be a big downer, triggering mild depression and prompt a slew of poor habits to come out of the woodwork. If you succumb to the negative emotions you might find yourself, like most people, on a backward slide and destroying all the gains you had made up to that point.

Pace yourself. Set long-term weight loss goals. Doing this will put less pressure on what you do today, and help you continue exercising into tomorrow and beyond. This is the best way to lose weight without dieting. Let the adventure begin!
