Apple Cider Vinegar - Is it the Next Weight Loss Cure?

Apple Cider Vinegar - Is it the Next Weight Loss Cure

There has been much hype in the weight loss community about apple cider vinegar and weight loss. Almost everyone has either bought the apple cider vinegar or taken apple cider in capsule form, know someone who has or has seen some advertisement touting it as the next weight loss cure.

Before we get into answering if this just a diet fad or does it actually have some truth to it, let's look at the claims. If you are not up to speed, let's get you there..

Question: What is apple cider vinegar?

Answer: Apple cider vinegar is derived from the acidic solution that is produced when apples are fermented.

The coming together of the acid in the apple and the fruit pectin is the claimed reason behind this diet being able to burn fat.

The famous apple cider vinegar diet suggests that you take three teaspoons of apple cider vinegar before each meal. The reasoning behind this method is that the apple cider vinegar because of its acidic nature will curb your appetite and cause you to eat less.

If you can't do the three tablespoon of apple cider vinegar per meal then you might want to try the apple cider in diet pill form. This method is much more easier to digest.

You next natural question will be: Does apple cider vinegar cause weight loss?

Answer: Unfortunately, apple cider vinegar does not cause weight loss.

The apple cider diet is just another fat diet that has made its way into the weight loss community by people who are trying to profit off people who are desperately seeking a way to shed some pounds.
It's amazing the lengths at which people will go to lose weight.

Drinking three teaspoons of apple cider vinegar is certainly not that great tasting. And you would have to be taking this dosage for every meal.

When you think about it logically, just the though of drinking three teaspoon of apple cider vinegar before each meal would discourage anyone from eating. The thought alone would make you want to limit your meal consumption, and I guess, thus you would have weight loss occurring!

Don't forget that there are still great tasting ways of losing weight. If you focus on eating nutritious foods such as vegetables, grains and lean meat, you would be eating something that is enjoyable and you still could lose weight in that manner.

And just by going on your bike or taking a stroll around the old neighborhood will also help shed a couple pounds. Try to make your weight loss fun and not something that you dread.

If you eat to put the pounds on then you eat to take the pounds off, this time around just making sure that you are indeed eating the right foods to keep weight loss happening naturally.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Weight Loss - How Does It Work?

Apple Cider Vinegar for Weight Loss

The truth is that no one knows for sure how apple cider vinegar for weight loss works. On one hand, there hasn't been enough research put into it to have a really good idea. On the other hand, what has been proven isn't much. Instead there are several theories on how apple cider vinegar for weight loss works.

Theory #1. The Blood Sugar Theory

This is the theory that has the most explanation behind it and the most research because of how it is related to diabetes. In normal circumstances your body takes in sugars and simple carbohydrates. These are then broken down into glucose or blood sugar and travel through your system. The brains sends chemical messengers to the pancreas telling it to release more insulin, which it does. In turn, the insulin helps the body break down the blood sugar. Suddenly there is way to much insulin and no sugar. So the brain starts sending out messages to the body that it needs more sugars and you start craving sugars and carbohydrates. Apple cider vinegar slows down the process of breaking down the carbs into sugar and sending them into the blood. This in turn helps the body to avoid the spikes in blood sugar and insulin and keeps you from craving foods that aren't good for you.

Theory #2. Feeling Fuller

In the apple cider vinegar diet you drink a glass of water with apple cider vinegar in it before each meal. One theory is that the apple cider vinegar contains pectin, a type of fiber found in the apple. This then absorbs water and acid and makes you feel fuller right before you start eating a meal. When you feel fuller it is less likely that you will consume more than you should.

Theory #3. You Feel Better

When you are feeling good and energetic you are less likely to eat foods you shouldn't, less likely to over eat, and even more likely to exercise. One theory behind how apple cider vinegar works for weight loss is that it gives you these good feelings. It may be that the vinegar helps the body to digest proteins which release tryptophan. The tryptophan causes the body to release serotonin which is a hormone that makes us feel better. It is also said to give you a boost in energy and help you to sleep better at night. Both of these things contribute to feeling good and more likely to work toward losing weight.

The research has just really started, but it is known that it does have a small effect. You aren't going to continue with bad habits, start drinking ACV, and lose a hundred pounds. However, drinking it may cause you to lose a few pounds a year with no other changes. On the other hand if you add the vinegar and you eat better, drink lots of water, and exercise you are likely to have a significant boost in your weight loss goals.

Apple cider vinegar is an easy addition to your lifestyle. It isn't for everyone and it is always best for you to find out as much as you can before you start taking any supplement. However, this easy addition is something that can help you lose weight and will help you lose a lot of weight when you eat well, exercise, and work toward living a healthy diet. This is it works.
