Reasons for Not Losing Weight - Discover 8 Reasons Why

8 Reasons you're not losing weight!

What's keeping you from not losing weight? Everybody's body is different. There could be many different reasons. One person's dilemma may not be the same as someone else.

First, let's check off the list some of the obvious reasons for not losing weight. Are you exercising? Are you eating healthy? Do you stay away from sugar filled beverages? Are you hormones balanced?

If you said yes to these questions, then move on to a more in depth look at your decision to lose extra pounds.

8 Reasons For Not Losing Weight

1. Negativity. Your body and mind are very closely connected. Be nice to yourself and your body. When your body is constantly feeling heavy laden with harmful words, it can continue in it's current state. Just like you would train a dog, give your body positive reinforcement to stop fat cell production.

2. Not being accountable. Choose someone or something to be accountable to for the choices you make everyday about food and exercise. Accountability makes the journey more real when you know you have to report your actions.

3. Too stressed out. Stress causes the hormone cortisol, to be released. Cortisol aids in fat cell production. Make sure you get some rest and relaxation. Calm nerves and anxieties, so that your body can use it's energy to burn fat cells instead of on stress.

4. Not writing down specific goals. Goals are just dreams unless they are written (or typed) and placed in a visual location. Be specific in your goal setting. Just saying that you want to lose weight, is too vague. You need to express exactly what you want to happen and how.

5. Not being grateful. Gratitude plays a positive role on your body's and minds responses. Be grateful for your body and the health that you already enjoy. Gratitude will help to balance your body and mind.

6. Hitting a plateau. If you are doing everything consistently and your metabolism has seemed to slow down, change it up. Try eating totally different veggies or fruit Switch your exercise to something different.

7. Not getting enough rest. Sleep is essential in keeping the body systems working optimally. Adequate sleep is important and helps renew energy.

8. Not tracking your food. Not knowing what you have specifically eaten in a day can leave room for mindless eating and too big portion sizes. A daily food journal is fun and easy. It will help you stay focused on your goals.

5 Reasons You're Not Losing Weight

5 Common Reasons Why You're Not Losing weight!
Losing weight isn't as simple as balancing calories in vs calories out. Or eating less and working out more. Our bodies are complex and a lot of factors contribute to weight loss. Factors such as the types of foods you eat, the type and intensity of your workouts, and even your lifestyle.

Here are 5 tips you may be overlooking that are keeping you from losing weight.

1. You're not eating enough calories. We all know eating too many calories can pack on unwanted pounds, but did you know that not eating enough calories can be just as detrimental to your weight loss efforts? It's true. When you don't eat enough calories your body starts to think it's going into deprivation and so your metabolism actually slows down and your body starts storing fat. This makes it very difficult to lose weight, especially those last few pounds. Make sure you're eating no less than 1200 calories per day, and for most women 1400-1700 calories per day is ideal for weight loss and to feel energetic throughout the day.

2. You think you're eating healthy. You fill up on "low carb" and "low fat" food items, but unfortunately these types of food don't always translate into low calorie or healthy. Often, these foods are really just junk food loaded with sugar or chemicals marketed to seem healthy. Don't ever trust these claims. Instead do your own investigating and always read nutrition labels and ingredients. Better yet, stick to fresh fruits, veggies, meats and minimally processed foods and steer clear of boxed and packaged foods whenever possible.

3. You focus too much on cardio. The more cardio I do the more weight I'll lose correct? Not exactly. Actually, incorporating weight training and more intense interval workouts will increase fat burn and boost your metabolism greater than any cardio session. And you'll also save time. Weight training for only 30 minutes 3-4 times a week and incorporating only one or two 20 minute interval training sessions can have a huge impact on your results and fat burning. Furthermore, excessive cardio can make you hungrier and crave sugar, which often leads to overeating. So instead of doing more cardio, focus on weight training and shorter interval training sessions.

4. You fear eating fatty foods. Do you worry about eating fat thinking it will easily turn into fat? Well the truth is not all fats are bad for you. It all depends on the source and type of fat. Sugar is actually more likely to turn into fat than fat. Fats are important for many bodily functions including weight loss. So be sure to avoid trans fats at all costs (usually found as hydrogenated oils on labels). Also, limit fats from conventionally fed beef or dairy products as well as fats high in omega 6's such as corn oil or safflower oil found in many canned and processed foods. Instead load up on fish and fish oil, olive oil, coconut oil, nuts such as walnuts or pecans, avocados, grass fed beef, and eggs from pastured chickens. These all contain healthy fats that are necessary for healthy functioning and for weight loss.

5. You're not getting enough sleep. Although sleep may not seem important to your weight loss goals it has a huge impact. Lack of sleep can release hormones that tell your body to store fat and that make you feel hungry. So make sure to get 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night if you want to not only look your best but feel your best.

Why You Can't Lose Weight: The First Step For Weight Loss Success

Why You Can't Lose weight? - The First Step for Weight loss Success
Wondering why you can't lose weight? Jumping from diet to diet without getting results? It could be that you have missed this essential step to weight loss success.

Commitment

Before you choose a diet and exercise plan to reach weight loss success you need to decide why you want to lose weight. Without a compelling 'why', your biggest obstacle will be following through.

I coach all kinds of people who offer a variety of reasons they have decided to lose weight. My successful clients always have rock-solid reasons for getting started with a weight loss program. At the same time the ones who have short-range goals, like looking good for an upcoming special occasion like a reunion or wedding, often have a long list of excuses why the plan isn't working.

Two recent examples include a 60 year-old architect and a 25 year-old bride to-be.

Like many Americans these days, the architect is nowhere near being able to retire and his work schedule requires him to travel about two weeks out of every month. He did not need a weight loss coach to tell him that he needed to make some changes since his clothes no longer fit.

The bride to be was ordering an expensive, hand-made dress for her wedding and wanted to pare down fast for her first fitting.

The architect had a compelling reason to get a handle on his weight: His family livelihood rests on his shoulders and he was smart enough to recognize that his obesity was hampering his productivity.

We laid out a plan and he stuck to it despite the challenges of not being home half of the month or the obligation he had to frequently dine with customers.

Within two months he had lost over 30 pounds and had eased into a maintenance schedule to manage his healthy weight.

He was thrilled that everything from his work production to his golf game was better at his ideal weight.

The bride to be struggled right out of the gate. Snacks at work and rich dinners with her girlfriends were too much temptation and she never found the motivation to get the results she desired. She blamed the plan we set up (even though she didn't follow it) and gave up after a couple of weeks.

Not sure how the dress fitting turned out.

Focusing on a short-term goal is not always bad or the reason you can't lose weight. Many clients start with weight loss goal like that only to become so excited about how much better they feel after their weight loss success that they expand their vision to include longer-term reasons.

Without commitment, things like a hectic work schedule or family obligations derail a healthy weight loss plan almost immediately. Skipping workouts or having lunch with customers or friends become reasons you can't lose weight.

Lasting weight loss requires commitment to a healthy lifestyle. As we age it's easier to gain the weight and requires more effort to lose it and if we don't change our habits then our habits will change us.

Your weight loss success is more likely when you have a firm commitment to the benefits you'll reap when you make the healthy changes.
