Ten Simple Ways to Cut Calories

10 Simple Ways to Cut Calories

Seemingly healthy foods can be a surprising source of calories. Follow these ten fantastic ways to cut calories to help you reduce the calories (and yes, fat) that you eat.

One: Limit your alcohol intake. Alcohol may be fat free, but it still carries 7 calories per gram, or about 70 calories per ounce. The higher the alcohol proof, the more calories it contains. Also, lets not forget the fact that if you're partying and drinking alcohol, you can much more easily be persuaded to eat foods that you normally wouldn't want to.

Two: Simple switching to a smaller plate size can greatly reduce your caloric intake. You will find yourself eating portions more close to those suggested in your diet - which will help you count your calories as well.

Three: Down size - Don't Super Size. If you ARE eating at your favorite fast food restaurant, try ordering for yourself from the kids menu - or get the smallest popcorn at the movies. This way, you're not always denying yourself some treats - but your also not over doing it with those huge super-sized servings,

Four: Forget "Family Style" Eating: Fill your plate in the kitchen and eat in the dining room. Or just fill your plate at the stove and bring it to the table. Having bowls and platters on the table with you, is just asking for the temptation for seconds. Besides - think of all the dishes this will save you from having to wash!

Five: Eat Slowly. It takes 20 minutes for your brain to register the fact that your stomach is full. Try putting your fork down and taking a drink of water between bites. Don't put the next bite on your fork until you have swallowed the previous bite. Do whatever you can to just slow down your eating.

Six: Eat of plates. Never nibble from the package or bag. Measure out a serving and put it on a plate. Nibbling can add up in calories very quickly. Eating only from a plate or a bowl allows you to see exactly how much you are eating and helps you to do better portion control.

Seven: Fill up on plant food. Fruits, vegetables and whole grains (no sauces, butter or oils on them), takes up room! It makes you feel fuller and you'll be less likely to snack on something high in calories. A 1 inch cube of cheddar cheese has the same caloric count as 8 ounces of bran flakes.

Eight: Switch to lower fat dairy products. Dairy is one great area where the lower fat types are the best. Low fat or no fat cottage cheese tastes the same but has significantly fewer calories. For example, an 8 ounce glass of whole milk contains 150 calories, but the same amount of skim milk has only 85 calories.

Nine: Dull is Better. At the salad bar, shiny means that a thick coat of oily salad dressing has been applied. Vegetables that shimmer usually have butter added to them and muffins that leave a grease slick on your napkin have more calories than ones that don't.

Ten: Cook the 'B' Way. Broil, barbecue, bake (on a rack) or braise meats. This will save you lots of calories over frying, sautéing and stewing because the fat has a chance to drip away from the meat.

Quick Weight Loss Plan - 3 Ways

Quick Weight Loss Plan - 3 Ways

A quick weight loss plan shouldn't center around counting calories or endlessly figuring out fat grams. If one is concerned in losing weight quickly then they must take measures which target immediate weight loss, rather than long term weight loss. As counting calories would be important for a long term diet plan, for a quick weight loss plan to be successful one has to employ a few tricks.

1. Fasting. The most obvious and quick weight loss plan for many would be just not eating at all. There are also many danger flags which rise up when one thinks of fasting. But, fasting can be done in a safe manner, and there are even many health advocates who recommend a periodic fast every so often to cleanse out the system. Note that much of the weight you will lose will be that of water weight, and a fast should only be done for a short period of time, and must be done following proper guidelines of the particular type of fasting process you are following. The healthy fasting routines will always have you consuming some form of liquid and have you consuming plenty of vitamins. This can be a quick weight loss plan, but it can be very difficult and much of what you lose will be water weight.

2. Carb fast. This quick weight loss plan is a bit better than the complete fast, as you will lose more fat in addition to water weight loss. You essentially cut out all carbohydrates from your diet and only consume a combination of protein and fat. It will usually take from 2 to 5 days before your body switches over and begins using fat as it's primary energy source, thus your body will naturally be burning both the fat you are consuming, along with your own body fat. You must re-load on carbohydrates after the 5th or 6th day (for 1-2 days) and then resume the carb fast for another 5 days. The reason this can be considered a quick weight loss plan is that out of all the diets out there, most people report the most immediate results with the carb fast. A search should done under "keto diet" to learn the exact procedures to perform this quick weight loss plan both safely and effectively.

3. Take supplements! That's right, take supplements as part of your quick weight loss plan. Losing weight in the least amount of time possible, does require some outside assistance. The body just naturally cannot burn fat on it's own that quickly. There are effective supplements you can take. Many go by the name of fat blockers or binders or burners. Some are obviously less reliable than others so it's always important to find out for your quick weight loss plan what compounds work both safely and effectively. And always look for natural based products as your first choice, as they do exist and have numerous benefits, including acting as a perfect supplement to your quick weight loss plan!

Surprising Ways to Burn 500 Calories

Surprising Ways to Burn 500 Calories

Burning 500 calories in a day is not some magical number but doing it day in and day out will mean that you will lose on average 1 pound a week. While there are many activities that will burn 500 calories at a time most people will find that if you break up your day and burn 75 calories here or 50 calories there it is much easier to reach your goal of burning 500 calories in a day.

Two important points to remember:

1. There are about 3500 calories in one pound of weight.

2. Eating less will trigger your metabolism to slow down. This explains why it is so hard to lose weight just by eating less. That is why it is so important to include exercise as part of any weight loss program

So let's get started and find ways to burn 500 calories a day without even realizing it. For these examples the average calories burned are based on someone who weighs 150 pounds. Weighing more will increase the calories burned while weighing less will decrease the calories burned.

Picking up and vacuuming around your house for approximately 30 minutes will result in 150 calories being burned.

Washing your dishes by hand three times a day will result in about 110 calories being burned.

Mowing your lawn for one hour using a walk behind mower will result in 420 calories being burned.

Doing other yard work around your house for just 20 minutes a day will result in almost 140 calories being burned.

Parking your car in the furthest part of the parking lot and then walking into the store and shopping for one hour will use up close to 200 hundred calories.

Cleaning your kitchen floor for a measly 30 minutes a day will burn almost 100 calories.

The point being made is that as you move around and go about your daily activities you will be burning calories and thus losing weight. Combine that with a similar reduction in your caloric intake and you are on your way to losing weight in a healthy way. If you are work outside of the home as most of us do it becomes much harder to eat right and lose the weight we want to. Try and find creative ways such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator. If the weather is nice outside spend some of your lunch hour walking in a safe environment. Many larger companies offer workout facilities for their employees or discounts at area health clubs. Make sure to take advantage of them.

I'd like to show you a free video that will tell you even more ways to shed those unwanted pounds. In addition to exercising one of the easiest ways to burn calories is to know what foods help you in the process, the foods that actually prevent you from burning calories and how to combine certain foods to help you burn calories even faster. And you can do all this without ever feeling hungry again.
